Butler University’s chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) was established in the mid-1980s. The pre-professional organization gives students various opportunities to network and enhance skills needed to be more marketable post graduation. Through multiple partnerships, local and national networking events and campaigns on campus and in the community, our chapter builds on the theories and practices learned in the classroom.
Butler PRSSA is involved in many activities with Indianapolis professionals and businesses. Members of our chapter are encouraged to attend monthly PRSA luncheons, PRSA Gratitude, PRSA “Half Day With a Pro,” and our PRSSA annual PR Night. This past year, PRSSA founded Butler’s first student-run firm. Although still in the developing stages, the firm plans to begin working with their first client by August 2010.
We meet on a regular basis in Fairbanks Building. Keep checking back to find out when and where our next meeting will take place!
Our chapter’s mission closely parallels that of the National PRSSA organization, which states:
The student society aims to foster the following:
Understanding of current theories and procedures of the profession
Appreciation of the highest ethical ideals and principles
Awareness of an appropriate professional attitude
Appreciation of Associate Membership in PRSA and eventually accredited membership
